The National Cancer Genome Repository is a catalogue of exomes and whole genomes taken from local tumour samples of leading cancer types in the country. The datasets will be studied for variations in cancer and matched normal samples that are peculiar to the local population. This has the potential to decipher new information that can predict drug responses and guide cancer care for local patients. With cell lines at the back end, this corpus of data will also enable the development of functional assays, to venture directly into detailed pathway insights and therapeutic targets that can be brought back into the clinic.
